Serenade & Blues was the second collection drawn from a marathon 1975 recording session. Von's tenor sax is accompanied by his longtime Chicago associates pianist John Young, bassist David Shipp and drummer Wilbur Campbell. While the first record, Have No Fear, featured up tempo material, this one has a laid back after hours feel. A 15 minute version of I'll Close My Eyes has been added to this CD reissue along with the original tracks of Serenade In Blue, After Dark, Time After Time and Von Freeman's Blues.
